GRAND FALLS, February 12, 2026 – The Grand Falls Police Force is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and public trust. In New Brunswick, allegations of police misconduct are addressed through established and independent oversight processes designed to ensure transparency and fairness.
In addition, policing in New Brunswick is governed by the New Brunswick Police Act, which sets out professional standards, oversight mechanisms, and disciplinary processes for police officers. Under this legislation, the Chief of Police has the authority to implement administrative measures, including placing an officer on administrative leave, while investigations or reviews are underway. These measures are intended to preserve the integrity of the process and maintain public confidence in policing.
Certain serious matters, including incidents involving death, serious injury, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or issues of significant public interest, are investigated by the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT), an independent civilian oversight agency. SiRT operates separately from police services and conducts thorough investigations when warranted.
“We understand the concerns and frustrations being expressed within the community, and we take all complaints seriously. The Grand Falls Police Force works both internally and in collaboration with external oversight agencies to ensure that all officers uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism and are held accountable for their actions. Our administration remains firmly committed to transparency and to maintaining the public’s trust.”, Chief Rick Blouin.
