Grand Falls Gathers to Bid a Final Farewell to Mr. Ron Turcotte

Grand Falls, August 25, 2025 – The Grand Falls Regional Municipality of invites residents to join family, friends, and the community in paying their final respects to Mr. Ron Turcotte, a man whose legacy extends far beyond his legendary career.
Beginning tomorrow and continuing until September 7, a Book of Condolences will be available at the Malabeam Center. Citizens are invited to leave a message of sympathy, a memory, or a personal reflection. The book will later be presented to the family as a collective gesture of remembrance.
On Wednesday, August 27, starting at 10:00 a.m., the funeral procession will pause at Mr. Turcotte’s monument on Broadway for a moment of silence. Residents are invited to gather and take part in this tribute.
Visitation will be held at O’Regan’s Funeral Home, 515 Everard-Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls, on Tuesday, August 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, August 27, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Drummond. An honour guard will be present to accompany Mr. Turcotte as he enters the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF.org) or the HRA Backstretch Foundation (thehorses.com).
“This is a final farewell to a great man of our community,” said Bertrand Beaulieu, Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality. “Ron leaves behind not only the memory of his legendary achievements in the horse racing world, but above all, it is his human values, his humility, and his generosity that will be missed the most.”
As a mark of respect, the falls will continue to be illuminated in blue and white, and the flags at municipal buildings will remain at half-mast until Wednesday evening. The Grand Falls Regional Municipality warmly invites residents to take part in these moments of reflection, as together we honour the life and legacy of a man who left an indelible mark on our history and our community.
