Grand Falls, December 2, 2025 – The Grand Falls Regional Municipality and the Grand Falls Police Force unveiled this morning the new badge that will henceforth identify the police force of the new municipal entity. Replacing the former badge of the former Town of Grand Falls, this emblem marks the beginning of a new chapter: it reflects a renewed municipality, a unified municipal police force, and a new way of operating. Firmly rooted in its community, the Police Force is turning an important page in its history to better reflect the current reality of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality.
Designed in harmony with the visual identity of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality, the crest highlights core values such as safety, justice, respect, belonging, and community solidarity. It also incorporates references to the falls, the fertility of local farmland, the surrounding natural environment, as well as the economic and tourism sectors that define the region.
The new crest brings together several graphic elements, each with a specific meaning tied to the territory it serves. The overall composition of shapes and lines conveys the unity, collaboration, and diversity of the communities that make up the Grand Falls Regional Municipality, while offering a distinctive symbol that is easy to recognize and simple to use across official materials.
The colours were carefully selected to reflect key aspects of the region:
Blue evokes safety and trust.
Green symbolizes nature and sustainable development.
Red represents energy and youth.
Bronze speaks to the richness and fertility of our land.
The shapes and symbols within the crest further reinforce this message:
The shield represents nobility, safety, justice, respect, a sense of belonging, and the importance of community.
The falls recall a strong, emblematic regional symbol closely tied to the identity of Grand Falls.
The furrows and wheat illustrate fertile land, agriculture, the local economy, and our close relationship with nature.
The maple leaf expresses the identity, pride, courage, and loyalty that characterize our community.
“Over the past few years, significant progress has been made within our Police Force, both in its internal organization and in the quality of service provided to residents. This new crest confirms the professionalism of our officers and their commitment to the safety and well-being of our community. As the Police Force prepares to assume responsibility for the entire territory of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality, this shared emblem marks an important milestone in that evolution,” said Bertrand Beaulieu, Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality.
For the Chief of the Grand Falls Police Force, this unveiling is a key step in bringing the service’s new vision to life. “This new crest is much more than a visual change. It symbolizes a modern police force that is approachable and closely connected to its citizens. It reflects our commitment to working in partnership with the community, to upholding the values of respect and justice, and to building a lasting relationship of trust with every neighbourhood in the Grand Falls Regional Municipality,” said Rick Blouin, Chief of the Grand Falls Police Force.
The new crest will be rolled out progressively on uniforms, vehicles, and official materials of the Grand Falls Police Force over the coming months.
