Grand Falls, September 17th, 2025 – The Grand Falls Regional Municipality is announcing the launch of the first phase of a street renaming project aimed at eliminating ambiguities in street naming. Currently, some avenue names are shared by both the Grand Falls and Saint-André neighborhoods, which can hinder the speed and accuracy of emergency responses by paramedics, police, and firefighters. Only the avenues in one of the two neighborhoods will be renamed in order to clearly distinguish addresses and support the work of emergency services.
The project is led by the Municipal Toponymy Committee, which is beginning its work in the two concerned neighborhoods. As part of this review process, residents will be invited to provide input and share their suggestions and comments. Citizens may submit proposals inspired by historical events, notable individuals, or simply their own creativity.
Although residents of the designated avenues will receive a mailed notice informing them of the process, all citizens of Grand Falls are invited to contribute to this collaborative initiative. Comments and suggestions may be submitted:

Citizens have until October 31, 2025, to submit their suggestions and comments.
“This project is an important step toward improving public safety and strengthening our collective identity. By involving our citizens in the naming process, we are building a Grand Falls that is clearer, safer, and more representative of our history and values,” stated Bertrand Beaulieu, Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality.
The Municipality thanks all residents for their participation and commitment to shaping the future of Grand Falls.
