Grand Falls Welcomes Its New Municipal Council at Swearing-in Ceremony

GRAND FALLS, May 25, 2026 - The Grand Falls Regional Municipality officially swore in its new Municipal Council during a ceremonial event held Saturday afternoon. This ceremony marks the beginning of a new municipal mandate focused on collaboration, community engagement, and the continued development of the municipality.
The Mayor, along with the elected councillors, officially took their oaths of office, committing to carry out their duties with integrity, transparency, and in the best interests of the public.
The new Municipal Council is composed of:
· Bertrand Beaulieu, Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality
· Nathalie Godbout, Councillor for Saint-André, Ward 1
· Mario Pelletier, Councillor for Saint-André, Ward 1
· Claudette Goguen Kavanaugh, Councillor for Portage, Ward 2
· Danny Soucy, Councillor for Grand Falls South, Ward 3
· Michel (Mike) Lang, Councillor for Grand Falls South, Ward 3
· Michel R. Lang, Councillor for Grand Falls North, Ward 4
· Sebastien R. Michaud, Councillor for Grand Falls North, Ward 4
· Josée Rioux-Walker, Deputy -Mayor and Councillor for Drummond, Ward 5
· France Roussel, Councillor for Drummond, Ward 5
Unfortunately, Councillors Mario Pelletier and Danny Soucy were absent from the swearing-in ceremony. They will officially take the oath of office in the coming days to begin their term on Municipal Council.
In his address, the Mayor highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration in addressing community priorities and continuing forward-looking projects for the future of Grand Falls.
The Municipal Administration would also like to thank the outgoing Council members for their commitment and their contributions to the municipality’s development over the past several years. The Municipality extends its best wishes for success to the members of the new Municipal Council in the exercise of their duties.
The first public meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Roland-Lafrance Room at the Marcel Deschênes Building.
