GRAND FALLS, November 13, 2025 –The provincial government is investing $88,738 to support the purchase of a new electric emission-free ice resurfacer for the Centre E.&P. Sénéchal in Grand Falls, ensuring the continued delivery of community activities.
“The Centre E.&P. Sénéchal plays an important role in bringing people together and supporting active, healthy living in Grand Falls,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “Investing in modern, sustainable equipment like this new ice resurfacer helps ensure the centre can continue to host local programs and tournaments while reducing emissions and operating costs. It’s a great example of how we can support community spirit and sustainability at the same time.”
The centre is home to hockey, figure skating, and extracurricular activities that bring people of all ages together throughout the year. Every season, the facility welcomes a variety of regional and provincial tournaments and draws thousands of visitors — an estimated 77,500 in 2024 alone.
“The RDC’s support for the acquisition of an electric ice resurfacer strengthens our commitment to modern, sustainable, and accessible infrastructure for everyone. The E.&P. Sénéchal Centre is a gathering place for our families, youth, and athletes, a cornerstone of our community’s vitality. It is a great example of what we can achieve together when innovation and sustainability serve the collective well-being.”
