Grand Falls, November 12, 2025 – The Grand Falls Regional Municipality is proud to announce the completion of a long-awaited project: construction of the new drinking water reservoir in the Saint-André neighbourhood. This essential, durable infrastructure will strengthen supply security, improve service quality for residents, and increase the resilience of the network.
This project was made possible with the support of the Government of New Brunswick, including the New Building Canada Fund – Small Communities Fund ($855,258) and the Rural and Northern Communities Infrastructure Fund ($142,583), along with a contribution from the Grand Falls Regional ($1,127,000), for a total investment of $2,124,841.
Commissioning of the new reservoir begins the week of November 10, 2025.Its capacity has increased from 300,000 to 400,000 US gallons, providing greater operational flexibility and improved winter performance. The new design enhances internal water circulation, ensuring better overall water quality while accommodating future growth in the area. It will replace the existing Mazerolle Street reservoir, scheduled for decommissioning in spring/summer 2026 once the full transition is complete.
“With the support of the Government of New Brunswick, this long-awaited infrastructure project in Saint-André is now complete. It is a concrete investment in our residents’ quality of life. The new reservoir ensures a reliable and adequate drinking water service for the entire area while meeting the community’s future needs.” said Bertrand Beaulieu, Mayor of the Grand Falls Regional Municipality.
“The province is pleased to be a funding partner as well as part of this milestone announcement to mark the completion of the construction of a new drinking water reservoir in the Saint-André neighbourhood,” said Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Gilles LePage, who is also Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “This will support future growth in the region.”
