At CN’s request and effective immediately, the bridge is completely closed to all vehicles and pedestrian traffic for an undetermined amount of time. NB511 states the following: Bridge Repair on Ennishone Bridge E690 Both Directions at Ennishone Road C.N.R. Overhead E690 All lanes closed. (Open to Emergency Vehicles) Width Restriction: 3m Height Restriction: 3m Weight Restriction: 6000kg
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Chuck Chiasson posted more details on the situation via Facebook following the closure : The bridge was closed after serious deterioration of the steel under structure was discovered. (Literally holes rusted through steel beams) I realize that this is not ideal, but safety has to be the first consideration, and, in this case, I believe CN made the right call. negotiations are going well for the replacement, and it is expected that work will begin sometime this summer. The exact timeline will be communicated once I have it. I realize that this is not an ideal situation but again safety must be the first consideration.
Currently, the site’s anticipated end time of the work is scheduled for July 30, 2026.
The Municipality asks the population to please follow the posted signage in order to stay on the correct detour route and avoid delays. Your collaboration is greatly appreciated.
