The Grand Falls Regional Municipality is today launching its 2023-2027 strategic planning process by announcing a series of consultation sessions to sound out residents on their vision and aspirations for their new municipality. Citizens are invited to attend one of three face-to-face public consultations to be held in three of the municipality's neighbourhoods over the coming weeks.
"As a new municipal entity, we face many challenges and opportunities, and it's crucial to understand what's important to all our citizens. Strategic planning will guide the Municipality's actions and priorities for the years 2023 to 2027. Council wants the entire population to have the opportunity to have their say, so that we can learn about their priorities and concerns, target strengths and areas for improvement, and propose actions that will improve the quality of life for all," said Grand Falls Regional Municipality Mayor Bertrand Beaulieu.
“I therefore invite all citizens to participate in one of the public sessions or to share their opinions and ideas on the online portal provided for this purpose, so that together we can grow the future of Grand Falls,” added Mayor Beaulieu.
The strategic planning exercise will be carried out in three major stages. The first, the diagnostic phase, will run until mid-September 2023. Citizens, municipal employees, partners, merchants, entrepreneurs, young families people aged 50 and over and community organizations will be consulted to draw up a portrait of the municipality. This will be followed by a working session with Council, to establish the actions required to realize the vision of community and administrative development. Finally, the strategic plan will be adopted by the municipal council this fall.
